It's all about me!
Growing up I always wanted to be an actress. I was very involved in music and theater throughout high school so it seemed natural to major in dramatic arts when I started college. I ended up interrupting my studies for a career as a full-time mom. When I finally went back to school (over 25 years later) I ended up taking mostly English/writing classes. That led to my receiving a degree in University Studies with a minor in English.
After my children were all in school I went to work for the school district as an aide for children with severe disabilities. I love doing all I can to improve the education of students who struggle with learning, and I'm always looking for ways to help them better understand how to function in the world.
The teaching opportunity I enjoyed most was the eight years I spent teaching early morning seminary to high school students. Many of those students have become my life-long friends. In addition to more formal teaching opportunities, I've taught private piano lessons in my home for over 30 years, and tutored students with disabilities to help them learn piano in the classroom setting.
Most of my experiences are family based, and my writing reflects those influences. I have five children and eight grandchildren. I cared for my parents as they aged and could no longer care for themselves. These experiences have had a profound effect on me and are part of who I am. You may notice their influence in my writings.
